Kurt Andersen talks to composer Randy Newman about his career

He's been busy since "Short People." In the last decade, Newman wrote the scores for Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc., and Cars. But before those movie gigs, Randy Newman was confounding listeners with his cheerfully bitter piano songs. After a 9-year hiatus, he's put out a new record and mixed in some politics too. Newman talks with Kurt Andersen about his career and plays live for us in the studio.
