The Word
Each week on The Word presenter Harriett Gilbert meets novelists, poets, playwrights, screenwriters, copywriters and book-sellers as she looks at the myriad world of writing.

Latest Edition: Tuesday, August 5th

On The Word, Harriett Gilbert talks to the controversial author James Frey, whose memoir about drug addiction, 'A Million Little Pieces', sparked a debate about veracity when it was discovered he'd mixed fact with fiction. He continues to do just that in his new novel, 'Bright Shiny Morning'. We find out how a group of Cameroonian poets are bringing poetry to the people in the capital, Yaounde, and ask how one goes about writing a travel guide for a war zone like Afghanistan or Iraq, and whether it's ethical to be encouraging holiday makers to journey to such places.
