Ohio Legislators Consider Sick Leave

COLUMBUS, OH (2008-04-15) Ohio lawmakers are considering a bill that would give up to seven paid sick days to more than two million employees in the state. During the legislation's first hearing in front of an Ohio house committee, sick leave backer Brian Dunn told lawmakers this bill is family friendly.

But a spokesman for the business-backed group that opposes this bill says it will discourage business in Ohio. Fred Mills says there are too many unanswered questions in this bill.

This is the bill's first and possibly last committee hearing. If lawmakers do not pass the measure soon, backers of the plan say they will put the issue before Ohio voters.
